K-Clinic (combined girls and boys)

We are looking at a start date of Saturday, December 2, 2023. Times will be the same as last year. Kinder Clinic will be from 8:15-9:00 AM. The Kindergarten Clinic is held each Saturday morning at the DTS gym, 8:05 to 8:40 a.m, beginning in December. The purpose of the Clinic is to provide new hoopsters a positive first experience with basketball, emphasizing skill development and fun. Team concepts, including scrimmages, will be conducted later in the season.

1st Grade and 2nd Grade (combined girls and boys)

We are looking at a start date of Saturday, December 2, 2023. Times will be the same as last year. Grades 1-2 Clinic will be from 8:30-9:30 AM. The 1st-2nd Grade division is held on Saturday mornings from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. The purpose of the 1st-2nd grade division is emphasize individual skill development and begin to introduce team concepts. Players are split into teams for the season after two weeks of “clinic”, with approximately 7 to 10 players per team (depending on the number of registrants and coaches). Sessions are split between individual/team instruction and drills, and then in a scrimmage/“game” with another team in the second part of the session. Score is not kept in the scrimmage, and coaches serve as referees. Goal height is 8 ft and players use a 27” ball – both allow early success for the young hoopster.

Competition Teams - Grades 3-8

Games will be scheduled for Saturdays and will not begin until January 2024. Practices will be during the week. The earliest we can have the gym is 6:30 PM on weeknights. On evenings when there is an adult league event, DTAA kids will come first and the adult league will move to the cafeteria. The first practice week is set tentatively for the week of November 13.

Once teams are formed, practice schedules will be coordinated with the coaches and communicated with all the teams.

3rd-4th Grade Boys / 5th-6th Grade Boys

The 3rd-4th grade and 5th-6th Grade Boys divisions have a heavier practice and game schedule. The purpose of both divisions is to promote enhanced individual skill development and to more thoroughly teach team concepts.
Teams are selected at the beginning of the season. In general, a team has one to two practices during the week and one game on Saturday once the season begins. Practices are generally held on Tuesday and Thursday nights at DTS gym (usually 6:30-7:45 pm for 3rd/4th graders; 7:45-9:00 pm for 5th/6th graders).  Most games are held on Saturdays, with 3rd-4th grader games beginning in the late morning and continuing to early afternoon; 5th-6th grade games usually start in the noon to mid-afternoon timeframe. Games are held against other DTAA teams, as well as teams from Kingwood, Alexandria and Lambertville. The majority games are held at DTS gym with some road games.
Rules are provided to ensure that all players get a similar amount of playing time, regardless of skill level. Games at DTS are refereed by certified adult referees. Both divisions play on a regulation height (10 ft) goal; 3rd-4th grade uses a 28.5” basketball, 5th–6th grade uses a regulation size ball.

7th-8th Grade Boys

Generally, the league has one to two 7th-8th grade teams. Practices are held Wednesday and Friday nights at DTS, with games on Saturday afternoons. Games are played against other township teams, generally including Kingwood, Alexandria, and Lambertville.

Girls Divisions (3rd Grade-8th Grade)

Girls divisions generally have practices on Monday, Wednesday and occasional Friday nights, with most games on Saturdays. Games are played against other DTAA teams as well as against other townships, including Kingwood, Alexandria and Lambertville.
